Chapter 3: Great

Let me start off by saying that today was awesome! No really! It was great! Well.. aside from having to get up at 6am for work, the rest of my day went great!

Great! Great! GREAT! (If you say the word enough it will eventually become lost on you, losing all meaning.)

1. GREAT day at work. Hung out and caught up with some really GREAT folks, who I work with.
2. GREAT weather outside. Wore my purple sundress to a GREAT dinner theatre where I met some pretty GREAT people and ate some really GREAT food!
3. And finally, it's GREAT when you realize at 2:30am that you don't have to work the following day until 2:30pm. GR-R-REAT!

What a GREAT day!

[FYI: I just had to run the word "great" through a spellchecker because I am no longer able to tell if it's spelled correctly or not. No joke.]

Chapter 2: Not-so Happy Canada Day

Wow. July 1st already. I feel obligated today to wish Canada a Happy Birthday, however I don't feel like celebrating. While the rest of the country might be in high spirits donning their red and white I feel as though I should be wearing grey.

Yesterday I had to say goodbye to my other half as he hopped on a plane to Montreal. I call him "my other half" because that is literally what he is. When he's not around I feel incomplete, (which is RIDICULOUSLY cheesy I know), but for anyone who has or is currently in a relationship you know what I am talking about. Justin is not my boyfriend, he is my partner.

Together both he and I spent the last two weeks enjoying one another. We did all kinds of things: walking outdoors hand-in-hand, playing miniature golf in the sun, feeding the ducks by the pond, long drives out by the coast, having a bonfire making gooey s'mores, renting movies then cuddling up on the couch, etc.

If I wanted to, I could provide a list of "3s" for each of the days that I have neglected to post. However the lists would only look like this:

June 21, 2010

List of 3s:
1. Spending time with Justin in the morning.
2. Spending time with Justin in the afternoon.
3. Spending time with Justin in the night.

And repeat, June 22 - June 30, 2010

You get the point.

So now that he is gone it's back to business! Here I am, about to post my first official 3s and yet, I feel as though I have no 3s to post! SO, here is what I am going to do.

Because I have no POSITIVE 3s to blog about, I will post my NEGATIVE 3s for today.

To some of you this may seem counter productive, or completely opposite of the basis of this blog. But if you just stick with me here, I will show you where I am going with this.

Date: Canada's (not-so) Happy Birthday

1. Received a phone call from my ex, who seemed only less-than-enthused to be returning my call. (To some reading this, this may seem reasonable given that he is my ex. However, we are FRIENDS. So this, for me, sucks.)
2. Went on a coffee date with a few "friends", but felt more like a prisoner awaiting judgement on death row.
3. At coffee I ordered a sugar cookie in the shape of a daisy with pink and yellow frosting. For me, this cookie was to become my saving grace of the evening. Well sugar cookie, thank-you for disappointing me! You tasted like cardboard!!

And that folks, was my day.

Now if we were to re-evaluate "said day" in a more positive light it would look a little something like this.

Date: Canada Day "Re-Birth"day!

1. Woke up this morning to my favourite ringtone. The one I only hear when my caller ID reads: Justin Madol.
2. Painted my nails a light pink then added groovy pink decals!
3. Received the following text at 11:46PM and nearly laughed my arse off: "Black man! Black man! Black man!!"

This is what we all should be doing at the end of a long day. Instead of focusing on the NEGATIVE 3s we need to remember the POSITIVE 3s. My day was only negative because it was clouded by my sadness in missing my partner, which spoiled the rest of my day.

You see, that's the thing with long-distance relationships. Even though the person isn't physically with you, they're still there.

I was grumpy today because I spent the majority of it missing my partner. My grumpy mood acted like a filter enabling only the negative aspects of my day to take root in my mind. I wasn't able to see the positive.

So now it is practically 2AM and I have work in less-than 5 hours. Here is what I would like for you to take from this post:

"There is no such thing as "having a bad day" because bad days do not exist."

(I will try to remember this at 6AM when I am dragging my ass out of bed.)
