Prologue

This post represents the beginning of what I hope will become an online routine, for not only me, but for others out there as well searching for perspective.

Before I give away this Blog's intent, I want to address how it all began..

My name is Sarah and I am a third-year University student. When I was in high school, like most students, I had a favourite teacher. Mine was my writing teacher, Mrs. Murphy. Sometimes, if I was having a rough day, I would opt out from eating lunch with my friends to spend lunchtime with Mrs. Murphy in her classroom. We would sit in desks opposite one another discussing the days events. Most often than not, however, our conversation would tangent from quiet discussion to me firing off about some lame high school drama. This would either involve rants about my horrible backstabbing friends or woes of my love triangle (ongoing that year). God bless her. Without that woman I don't think I would have survived high school.

"Mrs. Murphy, you were my Saviour."

If I learned anything from Mrs. Murphy, it was how to listen. She inadvertently taught me that there is more to listening than eye contact and verbal playback. Listening, means being able to connect with another on an emotional level as you sync your heart with theirs. This is the kind of listening that allows one to see whether a person truly cares.

The awareness of this knowledge has been both a blessing and a curse. Although it has allowed me to become closer to the ones who care, it has also created a divide between myself and those who had pretended to. The relationships that I thought had been solid revealed themselves transparent.

Of this however, the one thing that I have learned is perspective. How to reevaluate your perspective and change the way you look and respond to others: how to affect change in others.

With that said, this Blog will aim to do as such.

You're the best person to talk to because you take other people's thoughts seriously, add emotion and heart, and connect one's feelings with truthful thoughts :)
